The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), also known as the Global Goals, were adopted by the United Nations in 2015 as a universal call to action to end poverty, protect the planet, and ensure that by 2030 all people enjoy peace and prosperity. The 17 SDGs are integrated —they recognize that action in one area will affect outcomes in others and that development must balance social, economic, and environmental sustainability 1. There are some ways that an individual can adopt these SDG in their daily life activities to contribute to progress: save on electricity while home by unplugging appliances when not in use; go online and opt-in for paperless statements instead of having bills mailed to the house etc.
These sustainable development goals are helping companies to intergrade their operations/ activities and make contributions that can change impractical and unsustainable consumption and production patterns. And invest in the betterment of this planet’s future.
